Fishing Report: Week of Dec. 18

ABIQUIU LAKE: Fishing was slow for all species.

CHAMA RIVER: Monday morning water flows below El Vado and Abiquiú dams were 246 cubic feet per second and 108 cubic feet per second, respectively. Fishing below El Vado was fair using spinners and worms for brown and rainbow trout to 18 inches.

EAGLE NEST LAKE: Strong winds broke up most of the ice on the lake and the north side and main area were open to bank fishing.

EL VADO LAKE: As of Monday the lake was still free of ice for bank fishing.

FENTON LAKE: As of Monday the lake was still closed to fishing due to thin ice conditions.

HERON LAKE: Bank fishing was good using power bait, roe sacs and salmon eggs for rainbow trout and small lake trout. Fishing pressure was very light.

JEMEZ WATERS: Water flow on the Jemez River as of Monday was 17 cubic feet per second near Jemez Springs. Trout fishing on the Jemez and East Fork was slow-to-fair using egg patterns, salmon eggs and worms. Fishing on the Cebolla was slow.

NAVAJO LAKE: Fishing was slow for all species.

PECOS RIVER: Water flow near the town of Pecos as of Monday morning was 42 cubic feet per second. Trout fishing was slow-to-fair using salmon eggs, copper john bars and worms.

RIO GRANDE: The water flow Monday morning at the Taos Junction Bridge was 328 cubic feet per second. Trout fishing was slow-to-fair using salmon eggs, streamers and jerk baits.

SAN JUAN RIVER: Water flow below Navajo Lake as of Monday morning was 504 cubic feet per second. Trout fishing through the Quality Waters was fair using streamers, zebra midges, dead chickens, emergers and parachute adams. Fishing through the bait waters was fair using Kastmasters, night crawlers, jerk baits, streamers and copper john bars.

STORRIE LAKE: Fishing was fair using salmon eggs, cheese and power bait for trout.
