Eric R. Martinez, 42, Española, died Sunday, February 22, 2009. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert (Presley) Martinez; granddaughter, Audiana Martinez; maternal grandmother, Ernestine Viarreal; maternal grandfather, Estevan Viarreal; paternal grandmother, Lina Martinez and paternal grandfather, Ricardo Martinez.
Mr. Martinez was known for his old cars, which he enjoyed working on.
He is survived by his mother, Orlinda Martinez; sister, Judy Martinez; daughters, Erica Martinez, Veronica Martinez, Lina Martinez; 6 grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A wake service was held Feb. 26 in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated, Feb. 27 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment followed at the San Jose Catholic Cemetery in Hernandez with the following serving as pallbearers: Julian Martinez, Vidal Fernandez, Sr., Tilo Martinez, Sr., Gary Trujillo, Michael Lopez and Roland Martinez.
