The basketball fans of this Valley last week witnessed some of the best basketball played in University Arena by the Sundevils of Española Valley High School. The outcome of this semifinal action against Artesia fell short of the expectations of the thousands that witnessed this event.
Many left the arena with mixed emotions: some good, some bad. One must accept the fact that the outcome is final. No one can change this. We can only continue to encourage our students and their mentors to devote themselves to the hundreds of hours of practice, discipline and motivation to try again.
A three-year run as District championships and three consecutive appearances in the state tournament is a positive indication to this fan that we are being represented by outstanding students athletes on and off the court. May all of the programs of our young men and women continue to have success and may this community continue to support them so that we may all grow together.
