What, Mr. (Charles) Romero’s personal/business property was condemned? (Defiant Man Erects Giant Mailbox, Rio Grande SUN, April 16, 2009, page A4)
Mr. Romero has lost 75 percent of his business? How is he supposed to make a living? How would anyone survive? Who would put up with losing 75 percent of their business?
President Obama commits to helping small businesses; what about you, Governor (Bill) Richardson, and pertinent representatives of the great State of New Mexico? This wrong needs to be made right. Mr. Romero needs to be given his previous personal/business property back.
However, since the state condemned his property, it should be replaced with a piece of property of equal or higher value and with highway frontage that is absolutely necessary for him to do his business. After all, the state wanted the property, Mr. Romero didn’t want to move.
Make no mistake, if this happened to Mr. Romero, it can happen to anyone.
I’m watching to see what happens next.
