Wee would like to congratulate the Española Valley High School basketball players, the coaching staff and the athletic director for a job well done this year and past years. We are very proud of their efforts.
Coaches get paid to coach, officials get paid to officiate, fans that attend the games should act like fans. Remember, when you attend a basketball game be sure to dress in the proper uniform.
Have we lost the extra curriculum significance? Participation in sports is an extension of the classroom activity. Coaches teach discipline, responsibility, initiative and good sportsmanship, all of which Coach Richard Martinez has accomplished.
It has been an honor to watch the Española Valley basketball team accomplish all the aforementioned extracurricular activities.
Martinez’ record this pasts three years has been one to be proud of. How many coaches in New Mexico can lay claim to such a record? Few.
Sometimes winning it all is just not to be. But Martinez stated in one of his previous interviews, a state championship will eventually come to us.
