Editor:
Your editorial Whose Fiction? (Rio Grande SUN, Aug. 6, 2009 page A6) detailing (Española Mayor) Joe Maestas’ Monitor interview was ludicrous. Mayor Maestas clearly can’t get a fair shake from the SUN, so why wouldn’t he talk to an out-of-town newspaper in order to get the truth out? You’ve lost credibility because of your constant harping and whining about the Mayor’s shortcomings when he’s clearly the most intelligent, accomplished, and attractive elected official in Española.
It also sounds like you’re jealous of the Los Alamos Monitor, although there’s no need. That newspaper is owned by the interests that provide the paper’s main income: ad revenue from real estate ads. And commenting that Carol Clark wrote a one-sided article? What’s new?
It would be a refreshing change to read an unbiased article in your paper about Mayor Maestas and the great things he’s done for the citizens of Española. Otherwise, I think your paper is the best in New Mexico.
