Where are the checks and balances? An estimated $3.3 million gone.
It boggles my mind to hear what happened at the Jemez Mountain School District for years undetected. Who, what and how are these monies monitored? What roles are the School Board, the Finance Committee (if there is one), the superintendent and state auditor supposed to play?
There are many questions arising from this financial fiasco. Students are losing their educational rights and services because somebody “dropped the ball” here. As always there will be a lot of Monday morning quaterbacking trying to elicit some answers so this never happens again.
The public, especially the students and parents at Jemez, want and demand some answers. So do I.
