Injury-Plagued Sundevils Fall in Season Opener

(SUNfoto by George Morse) Española Valley’s Ryan Fresquez nearly broke free on this long run in the first quarter against the West Las Vegas Dons Sept. 3 in the Sundevils’ opening game of the season at Española. Two plays later Fresquez scored on a 37-yard run to tie the game at 6-6, and a two-point conversion by Antonio Garcia gave Española a brief 8-6 lead. Española lost 40-20 and faces Robertson Friday in Las Vegas.
