(SUNfoto by Wheeler Cowperthwaite) Española Police Officer Danny Pacheco (left) and Det. George Martinez watch witnesses at the scene of an alleged battery Feb. 19 on Riverside Drive, while Det. George Martinez observes the scene. The incident was first reported as a car that crashed into a pedestrian. Pacheco learned Nicholl Martinez, 26, was lying on the side of the road when her child’s grandmother found her in the street and checked on her. Martinez allegedly attacked her child’s guardian, Josephine Griego, through the car window. When the car drove off, she fell and hurt her arm.
