Thanks for the Money, Governor

As the past chair of the Chili Community Ditch Association (north of Española), it is encouraging to see newly elected Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham pay out on commitments ignored by her predecessor.

The Chili Community Ditch was awarded federal FEMA funds in 2016 for flood damage, but the previous administration refused to release the state contribution. In fact they advised us since another flood had subsequently occurred that they wanted to “close out” the funds without releasing them to our Association.

We thank Gov. Lujan Grisham for in January releasing the funds from 2016. It was her first month in office. This shows respect.
