In regard to the removal of the statue of Juan de Oñate and the graffiti left there, I believe the statue should be put back and the people who put the red paint on the base should be given a choice to either clean it up or face arrest.
Giving in to threats from a mob will just lead to more of the same. The Spanish colonization of New Mexico and the southwest is part of American history and a rich heritage that includes all of us.
