City of Española Fire Department firefighters responded at 6:30 p.m., Dec. 31 to a structure fire on 1214 South Orchard Lane, my garage. Their response time was exceptionally fast and damage was limited to a small section in the roof.
In addition to extinguishing the fire, the firefighters saved a litter of puppies.
Several other fire crews assisted in the situation, including as La Mesilla/San Pedro, Santa Clara and others. I cannot remember all who helped, but if you were there, thank you.
I have always supported our firefighters and will be more generous now. When they have a fund drive please contribute. Once again big applause to our local heroes.
