I wish to comment on “The Republican Ship of Fools” article published in the Rio Grande SUN Jan. 14. I read Ms. Allen’s column three times—sadly, nothing positive just hateful rhetoric.
I’m a registered Democrat. I‘m not, however, beholden to the party in a way that supports their agenda 100 percent. I vote for whomever meets my family’s needs–I win some, lose some.
I vote my conscience. I adamantly oppose and condemn killing innocent babies. I condemn all violence, the one incident in Washington D.C. and the many past and current Black Lives Matter and Antifa destructive and burning occurrences in many U.S. cities.
Millions of American have been, and still are, being impacted by loss of life, businesses and livelihoods.
I object to the “revenge” tactics against Republicans supported by many in my party. Just recently I heard that numerous in my party are demanding that television station KRQE fire meteorologist Mark Ronchetti because he dared run against a Democrat.
Years ago, Mark was the keynote speaker at a conference I attended and he was interesting and funny. I didn’t know he was a Republican until he ran for office; that didn’t change that I liked him.
Ms. Allen’s column is so negative, focusing strictly on past happenings. Trump was president for four years and what he did during his tenure will not change. I supported some of what Trump did (self-serving).
Now, Biden is the president and will cancel out much of what Trump did. I will support Biden in some, but probably not all, of what he does. I just pray that Biden can unite this country, which is in turmoil. We cannot go on in the current state of affairs.
