Contact the Governor

Published:

This letter is in response to the governor’s responsibility to appoint a replacement for the vacancy which exists for District 2 Rio Arriba County Commissioner. As chairman of the Rio Arriba County Commission I find it concerning that the governor continues to delay in making an appointment for the position.

New Mexico state statute is clear that the governor has the sole duty, authority and responsibility to appoint a replacement for said vacancy. There is no provision that allows County management, staff or the commission to make this appointment—interim, acting or otherwise.

Please know that the decisions made by County management, staff and Commission are in the absolute best interest of all our residents throughout Rio Arriba County.

All our residents are being represented and any concerns or issues brought forth, by anyone, in any District, are welcomed, heard, carefully considered, evaluated and addressed accordingly.

We respectfully ask that our Rio Arriba County residents, particularly those within District 2, contact the governor to act and make this appointment soon.
