Dear, Editor:
Mayor Vigil is asking the governor for help with the growing crime/drug problem in Española when he should direct his efforts to our Federal representatives and President Biden to address the open border with Mexico. The border is where the drug cartels operate and where most of the fentanyl trafficked in New Mexico and the United States comes into our country.
Arresting local criminals will make local headlines and make our local political leaders appear to accomplish something. What must be done, in my opinion, is to close the border, arrest and deport the illegal aliens, reinstate the death penalty for selling fentanyl and use the RICO statutes to prosecute the cartels that are destroying our society.
