Letter: ‘We Look Forward to a Healthy Relationship with the SUN’

Published:

Dear, Editor:

I just want to take the opportunity to thank the Rio Grande Sun newspaper for the many years of good incisive coverage of the stories of El Norte, i.e., Northern Rio Grande country. I believe that nuestro pais del Norte del Rio Grande has been well-served by your paper.

As an Executive Committee Member of Northern Rio Grande National Heritage Area Board of Directors, I invite the Rio Grande Sun newspaper to carry some stories and reporting about activity and accomplishments of this National Heritage Area, because this organization exists to protect and advocate for the unique and special cultural and historical heritage and legacies of El Norte especially in the Counties of Rio Arriba, Taos, and Santa Fe.

The (NRGNHA) is a non-political tri-county cultural advocacy organization that is funded through the U.S. National Park Service and whose Board of Directors is composed of community cultural advocates from the Counties, together with designated representatives from each County Commission, Municipality, and the native Pueblos within the area.

The NRGNHA administrative headquarters is currently in the City of Espanola, Plaza Convento area. Please feel free to look us up. We look forward to a healthy and constructive relationship with the Rio Grande Sun and with groups and individuals who are interested and committed to advocacy for our ancient and complex multicultural histories and legacies del Rio Grande del Norte. Gracias.

David Fernandez de Taos,

Executive Committee MemberNorthern Rio Grande National Heritage Area
