Football: Española Valley vs. Kirtland Central

The Sundevils are looking to keep up on their hot streak with a strong rushing attack, and need a win against a team that made the state tournament in 2022 to have a chance to make the tournament themselves in 2023. Kirtland Central has had a strong passing offense behind Tyler Joe, who threw for 300 yards and three scores in a loss to Grants. Española’s secondary will need to step up to get a necessary win.

Football: Cuba vs. McCurdy

The Rams enter the game undefeated, but they may not have faced a team like McCurdy yet. The 2A Bobcats have dominated their last three 3A opponents, with an offense that statistically is among the state’s best at nearly 50 points per game. But Cuba’s defense has been their strong point; their 22 points allowed last week against Laguna-Acoma is their most all season. The Rams can throw or run the ball, with sophomore Richard Lovato leading the way.

And Goalkeeper Omar Hernandez has been strong with 51 saves this year.
