Volleyball: Tournament of Champions
Some of the state’s top volleyball teams come out to Santa Fe every September, and this year should be another exciting competition. Española Valley — already looking much improved from their 2-20 2022 — and Pojoaque Valley — with a few slower results over the past week — are among the teams in attendance and will face off in pool play.

Football: Gallup vs. Española Valley
Española has yet to hit their goal of improving on last year’s team, with a couple of sluggish performances in recent weeks. Looking to jump start an offense that has scored just 50 points total through four weeks (no more than 21 points in any game), the Sundevils turn to sophomore Irvin Primero as their starting quarterback. Gallup has allowed at least 50 points to all four opponents so far, so this could be a chance for the Sundevils to get going. On the bright side: Española kicker Andres Valenzuela leads the state in field goals.
Football: McCurdy vs. Santa Fe Indian
McCurdy is off to a strong 2023 with a state tournament appearance — potentially their first since 2012 — looking possible. The Bobcats have won two straight with 114 points in those games. They look to make it three in a row against a struggling Braves team, though one that squeaked past the Bobcats’ district opponent Laguna-Acoma 16-15 two weeks ago.
