Girls Basketball: Pecos vs. McCurdy

In just five games, the Lady Bobcats (4-1) have surprised their combined win total from the last three years. New and returning players like Amy Anaya and Marianna Arambula, along with new coach Joseph Brooks, are turning the team into a legitimate threat. Now they get a measuring stick game against the Panthers (2-3), who made the state tournament a year ago and could be on their way to a return. It’s a chance for McCurdy to show if they are for real.

Girls Basketball: Española Valley vs. West Las Vegas

The Sundevils (5-4) seem to be on the rise this year, with strong early wins. But they suffered a setback with a 39-point loss to the defending state champions. Now they face another test with an up-and-coming team. The Dons are led by Robertson transfer Alexis Pacheco who averages 17.6 points per game. But they did lose to Santa Fe Indian, a team that Española beat in overtime. This should be a close game, and a strong win for the champion.
