Letter to the editor 12/21/23

Hello I just have one question: Why did you not print the letter I submitted a couple of weeks ago?

Don’t you realize that the majority of the population in the valley (actually Northern NM) would agree with the content. All of us are sincerely proud of our heritage.

Why only respond (print) negative information from Ms Lentini. She has no idea because generations of her family have not lived there. Even though our family resides in Las Vegas, NV, they all (grandchildren included) have a very special bond to my upbringing and history.

I am part indian because my great grandmother was raped by an indian. Guess what? I am very proud of my heritage, and that is life; we all have the same problems from the beginning of time.

We can’t erase history! Indians were disgraced and killed by the Spaniards that came to this country, but the conquistadores too suffered many atrocities. That’s life existing since the beginning of mankind. Can’t erase history! It sadens me and oppose that the media is biased in exposing only one side of an opinion most of the time. We appreciate The Rio Grande Sun being our local newspaper and always look forward to viewing it. Thank you for that.

I first submitted to you a lengthy letter; I neglected to to read your instructions. However, it was revised to exactly 250 words. Thank you for reading this.
