Judah Duran, McCurdy Boys Basketball
McCurdy’s point guard can be overlooked at times, but he is a big part of what makes the team tick. He showed his worth with a 15-point, 10-rebound performance in a win over Laguna-Acoma at the Santa Fe Indian tournament.
Jordan Gallegos, Mesa Vista Boys Basketball
Mesa Vista won first place for both the boys and girls at the Santa Fe Indian Tournament. For the Trojans, it was Gallegos leading the way. His 20 points led Mesa Vista to a big win over the hosts in the final.
Ashlynn Jaramillo, Coronado Girls Basketball
Coronado’s senior leading scorer had a huge game to lead the Lady Leopards to a win in their first district game. Jaramillo stole the ball seven times against New Mexico School for the Deaf, dished three assists, grabbed 11 rebounds, and most impressively, scored 38 points to put Coronado in first place.
Matthew Lovato, Española Boys Basketball
Española’s junior center led the Sundevils to a good win over Kirkland Central, giving the Sundevils four wins in five games. His big dunk fired up the team as part of a 20-point effort in the overtime win.
