Aubrianna Garduno, Española Valley Tennis
Española tennis’ senior leader delivered the decisive win in the district semifinal to defeat Santa Fe Prep. Against an opponent to whom she had previously lost big, Garduno rallied for a three-set victory, sending Española to the finals.
Ashley Gilmore, Escalante Track and Field
Gilmore was a key contributor for the Lady Lobos who won first place at the Santa Rosa Invite. Her meet included a first-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, second in the 300-meter hurdles and long jump, and the anchor leg of a 4×400-meter relay that won first place.
Jeremaya Roybal, McCurdy Baseball AND Track
Roybal had a big day for McCurdy in multiple sports. In baseball, Roybal had a home run, a triple, and 6 RBIs in a doubleheader against McCurdy. Then he went over the weekend to a track meet in Santa Rosa, and won first place in the 100-meter dash and third in the 200.
