The Alcalde Elementary boys basketball team finished undefeated for the 2024-25 season, and won first place in the Española School District tournament. Alcalde defeated Chimayó, 36-33, in a championship game Nov. 15 at Española Valley High School. The team was led by their sixth grade players Lukas Casados, Anthony Padilla, Aayden Romero and Elias Tapia. They worked hard all season and always wanted to be in the gym helping each other, coach Juan Padilla said.
