Free Basketball Camps
A series of free basketball camps by the Southwest Ethos Foundation at Escalante High School are open to local players who want to improve their skills.
They begin July 31 with the PeeWee camp for kindergartners through second grade from 6:30-9 p.m.
Grades 3-8 will go from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 31 and Aug. 1, with lunch and snacks provided.
And a high school girls camp will go from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with lunch and dinner provided. The latter will include a 90-minute mental preparedness portion, camp director Eli Gallegos, an Escalante alum, said.
This is the third year Southwest Ethos has put on the camps, he said.

PVHS Athletics Plans Fundraiser
The Pojoaque Valley High School athletics department is trying something new to help raise money for its sports programs.
The first Elks Golf Tournament is set to tee off July 25 at Buffalo Thunder Resort’s Towa Course.
Pojoaque Athletic Director said Sean Jimenez said the goal is to get 20 teams for the four-player scramble. The competition will include longest drive, closest to the pin and awards for the top three teams.
