The police blotter is published to give readers an abridged look at criminal activity in their community and neighborhood. It is simply an illustration of what local law enforcement, funded by taxpayers, must deal with daily throughout the Española Valley.

Dec. 4
7:26 a.m. A Velarde caller said he just woke up and his truck is gone.
11:18 a.m. A Hunter Street caller reported the superintendent is on the phone with someone who’s threatening him and saying his daughter is in trouble.
12:17 p.m. An officer saw a hand-to-hand transaction at Speedway.
12:37 p.m. A Po Pay Avenue caller said he was installing signage on a building across from the tribal administration building when the ladder broke and dented a vehicle.
1:58 p.m. A man went to the Española Police Department to dispose of two guns.
2:18 p.m. A Bubble Zone caller said her clothes were stolen.
2:22 p.m. A caller found her neighbor lying in her driveway and requested a welfare check on her.
3:04 p.m. A Dixon caller said a man was unconscious, not breathing and was stiff. He hadn’t been answering his phone for a while and had been hit by lightning a few times.
4:36 p.m. A McDonald’s caller reported a woman was in the restroom for four hours and refused to come out.
6:06 p.m. An Angel Duran caller said a homeowner vandalized his truck.
7:18 p.m. A Walmart caller reported someone in a car was smoking something, maybe drugs.
7:27 p.m. A Villa del Norte Apartments caller said her windows are busted open, but nothing was stolen.
7:37 p.m. A Villa del Norte Apartments caller found a stolen car in the parking lot.
8:15 p.m. A McDonald’s caller said two people in a truck were smoking something.
9:13 p.m. An overdose was reported at Subway. Narcan was administered.
10:56 p.m. A caller said homeless people were trying to start a fire near a tree by El Paragua.
11:15 p.m. A Pacheco Lane caller reported two or three children were fighting in the alley.

3:31 a.m. A man at the Ghost Ranch Museum was very drunk.
6:57 a.m. A man at Wendy’s was picking up boulders and didn’t want to put them down.
8:05 a.m. A Los Niños Kindergarten caller said a car hit her vehicle and fled and now she can’t open her door.
8:12 a.m. A caller reported a man in a Jeep was brake-checking him and making gun hand gestures.
8:17 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man slumped over in the driver’s seat of a vehicle at Speedway.
8:20 a.m. An Allsups caller wanted to file a report because a camera was installed last night, but someone broke into her office to get the camera.
8:20 a.m. A Champion car wash caller said someone damaged the vacuums and they want to file a report.
9:11 a.m. A Velarde caller wanted to file a report for a damaged fence. The call was transferred to New Mexico State Police, who said per their sergeant, they were not going to take the call.
12:04 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a woman in the middle of the road in Velarde, who was screaming and crying.
12:49 p.m. A Las Lomas Apartments caller said a group of homeless people are behind a building, starting a fire.
1:44 p.m. A caller found a man with a rope around his neck. When she checked on him, he woke up.
2:05 p.m. A man’s death was reported in Velarde.
2:47 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man lying in the middle of the road at State Road 106 and Shady Lane.
2:50 p.m. A Cordova caller said a man in a truck was wearing camouflage and had a gun.
3:19 p.m. A Hernandez caller reported her son is doing cocaine and goes walking on the side of the road and she’s concerned for his safety.
3:19 p.m. A Chama caller said a man is walking by their property and appears to have a rifle.
4:32 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a woman lying in the road near Lowe’s Home Improvement. A second caller said the woman was under an employee’s car and was screaming because she’s drunk.
4:33 p.m. A Dixon caller reported a drunk parent picked up their child and drove home.
7:03 p.m. A McDonald’s caller said a man was in the restroom, possibly doing drugs and several people were complaining about the smell.
7:09 p.m. A Starbucks caller reported a homeless man has been passed out inside the store for 20 minutes. The caller and employees tried to wake the man and give him coffee.
8:05 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a blonde woman dressed in all black, who was standing on the side of the road near Delancey Street and hadn’t moved.
9:25 p.m. A North Railroad Avenue caller said someone took the tarp and board that were covering concrete work.

Dec. 6
1:33 a.m. An overdose was reported on State Road 76. One dose of Narcan was administered.
9:35 a.m. A Calle de Pajarito caller said her son is bothering her.
9:55 a.m. A man and woman were panhandling at the Ohkay Travel Center.
12:06 p.m. A New Moon Lodge caller reported a resident is being disrespectful to staff and has a history of getting violent. He said he is going to go crazy if the cops are called.
12:39 p.m. A North Prince Drive caller said she got to her property and realized the lock had been cut off and she saw personal property that isn’t hers. She thinks someone may be squatting there.
1:18 p.m. A caller reported the Village of Chama mayor was walking around with a rifle.
2:18 p.m. A Habitat for Humanity caller said a man carrying two backpacks was in the dumpster and wouldn’t leave.
2:30 p.m. A Santa Cruz Country Store caller reported two officers were there and once they left, a man pulled out a gun and cocked it.
4:04 p.m. An Española Valley Church of Christ caller said someone broke in again and threw things around.
4:08 p.m. A Velarde caller reported his mother hit him in the nose with a chair and his nose is turning blue.
7:51 p.m. A Pizza Emergency caller said a man wearing pajamas was dancing on the road and in the median.
9:18 p.m. A Kentucky Fried Chicken caller reported two men were smoking something behind the building that has a strange smell.
11 p.m. A New Creations Ministry caller wanted to speak with CYFD because her foster teen was fighting with another teen.
Suspicious Car
Dec. 7
3:26 a.m. An Ohkay Casino caller wanted to speak with an officer because she thought someone stole her wallet.
8:40 a.m. An Española Valley Church of Christ caller said the church was broken into last night, but nothing was taken.
9:02 a.m. A Starlighter Loop caller reported someone broke into the neighbor’s house and they have them at gunpoint.
9:33 a.m. An O’Reilly’s caller said there’s a car on the side of the building and people are going up to it.
9:40 a.m. A State Road 369 caller reported chasing away a man who was near an RV on Monday on her mom’s property. She said now there’s a battery connected to the RV.
10:02 a.m. A Velarde caller said a man showed up at her house, saying his pelvis is broken.
4:09 p.m. An AT&T caller reported a homeless man is wiping his butt in front of the store.
8:59 p.m. A Dixon caller said an 18-year-old is unconscious and not breathing, CPR was in progress.
10:58 p.m. A Calle Vigil caller reported a 20-year-old was unconscious and not breathing. One dose of Narcan was administered.
11:32 p.m. A Velarde caller said her daughter’s drunk boyfriend is hitting the daughter.
No License, Baby Boy
Dec. 8
1:55 a.m. A Santa Claran Casino caller said they had a man detained because he was threatening security and the officers there. They asked for a deputy to arrest the man who was non-native.
3:10 a.m. A Simmons Lane caller reported the neighbor was breaking into his house. The man breaking in was naked and claimed someone was trying to kill him. When asked who was trying to kill him, he said he isn’t a snitch.
9:52 a.m. A Simmons Lane caller said her house was broken into and the person threw things all over but she can’t tell if anything is missing.
11:06 a.m. An Ash Loop caller reported homeless people are going into the back of a house.
11:24 a.m. A caller wanted to file a police report because a wig was pulled off her daughter at Española Valley High School.
11:58 a.m. A Hernandez caller said her neighbor was not feeling well and said her son was trying to poison her and she was trying to kill him and slept with a knife.
1:01 p.m. A Private Drive 1130 caller reported State Police were outside in unmarked cars and were shooting at his house. State Police said they did not have any officers out there.
1:06 p.m. A caller took her son to the emergency room but he drove himself home and his mother said he was acting crazy. She said he broke down the door and got in her house.
2:33 p.m. A State Road 581 caller reported her friend’s debit card was stolen and fraudulent charges were made.
3:17 p.m. An Española Valley Church of Christ caller said the building was broken into last night but nothing was taken.
3:36 p.m. A caller reported a Coca-Cola truck was driving erratically near the Casa Nova bar.
3:55 p.m. A caller said a car was on fire on the shoulder of N.M. 68.
5:35 p.m. A caller reported a homeless man ran his bicycle into their car at Food King.
6:07 p.m. A caller said a man in an SUV was yelling at him and called him a “baby boy.” The man also said he didn’t have a license and drove off after he hit the caller’s vehicle.
8:59 p.m. A North Yucca Street caller reported a man is being violent and tried to attack them.
Why Did the Cow Cross the Road?
Dec. 9
1:07 a.m. A caller said a cow crossed the road on North Paseo de Oñate.
8:32 a.m. A Rio Arriba Senior Center caller reported the wall on the side of the building was damaged.
8:51 a.m. A Chimayó Elementary caller said children are spreading rumors about a school shooting and they want an officer to go speak with them.
9:32 a.m. A Private Drive 1411 caller reported a man was found unconscious in the restroom and he’s making snoring noises.
10:06 a.m. An Abiquiú caller said people drove onto her property, went through her gate and rearranged concrete blocks and drove over bags of concrete.
10:26 a.m. A Santa Claran Casino Hotel caller reported getting a call from a man who was irate and at McDonald’s and said he was going to the Santa Claran to slash throats.
11:38 a.m. A man was pointing a dark handgun at cars as they passed by in Hernandez.
3:01 p.m. A Calle Adrian caller found her handyman unresponsive in a room in her house after not hearing from him in two days. The Office of the Medical Investigator was called.
3:02 p.m. A Cook’s Mobile Home Park caller said the neighbor’s son is out of control and might be on something.
5:13 p.m. A FedEx driver reportedly locked herself in the back of her truck and needed someone to open the doors so she could get out.
5:26 p.m. A Taos caller wanted to report himself for putting his hands on his girlfriend. When asked for his address, he said he didn’t remember it and hung up.
7:43 p.m. A man in Chimayó was unconscious and barely breathing.
9:36 p.m. An Allsups caller said a man threatened them and patted his waistband.
10:08 p.m. A Hernandez caller reported their parents were drunk and fighting.
Kicking Rocks
Dec. 10
12:46 a.m. A black bag with drug paraphernalia and gun magazines was found in the Ohkay Casino parking lot.
7:59 a.m. A Park Street caller said she sent someone photos on Facebook and now they’re asking her for money. She said she gave them $1,400.
8:33 a.m. A caller reported a man in a Dodge Durango was impersonating a police officer and he tried running them off the road. He said he was a State Police officer but refused to show his badge.
11:06 a.m. An overdose was reported in the parking lot of the Dollar General in Hernandez.
11:37 a.m. A caller said a man was walking in the median near Chili’s, kicking rocks onto the road.
12:17 p.m. A Bubble Zone caller reported a man stole his wallet when he was leaving the Santa Claran Casino and he followed him to the laundromat.
1:39 p.m. A Twisted UTV Performance caller said a man was lying behind the cell tower. It was discovered the man took fentanyl.
3:09 p.m. A Velarde caller reported a cannabis license farm manager took stuff and left.
3:45 p.m. A Chimayó Elementary caller said the students that were spreading rumors about a shooting called the parents of a fourth grader and said they were going to stab him.
8:52 p.m. An Alcalde caller reported seeing someone on her Ring camera, looking at her packages.
9:48 p.m. A Taco Bell caller said people were being rude and yelling at the employees and calling them racial slurs.
11:03 p.m. A Velarde caller reported wood fell out of the fireplace and started the sofa on fire and now the roof is burning.
