Pets of the Week 1/22/26

Molly is an almost-grown kitten with whispering whiskers and a heart full of gentle charm. At around 10 months old, this brown-and-white tabby is that perfect ’tween age: playful enough to keep things lively, calm enough to curl up and keep you company. Molly gets along beautifully with other cats and would be a lovely addition to a multi-feline household. As for dogs, she’s undecided for now — she prefers thoughtful, slow introductions (a girl who appreciates good manners). Sweet, soft souled and quietly affectionate, Molly has a way of making a space feel warmer just by being in it. If your home is missing a graceful little presence — and a lot of love — Molly may be the cat you’ve been waiting for! The Española Animal Shelter is open to walk-in adopters from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Rocket is ready for launch! Rocket is a 1-year-old, 36-lb. cattle dog-mix with a bright white face, beautifully brindled paws with little white toes and a personality that’s truly out of this world. Smart, playful and snuggly, he loves a good game of fetch and knows how to power down for a cozy nap afterward. True to his name, Rocket is curious and clever — keep an eye on your Chapstick though, because his favorite game is to steal it! Rocket is graduating from the Paws in the Pen training program at the Penitentiary of New Mexico, where he’s been polishing his manners and learning the good dog basics. He comes fully vetted, vaccinated, neutered and ready for his next mission: a forever home.

Apply on the Española Animal Shelter website to meet Rocket and see if he’s your perfect co-pilot!
