Initially, I was going to write about the nice football stadiums in Dulce, Taos, Los Alamos and the different schools in Santa Fe, compared to the football field at Española and the surrounding grounds.
However, I think more importantly and the concern I am sure of the parents and grandparents is the lack of an athletic trainer in Española. The school board should be doing something about this. Are they waiting for more serious injuries than those that have happened so far?
I’ve witnessed players lying on the sidelines until the parents or other players carry them off the field. The football season is coming to an end. Maybe if the school board becomes concerned enough, next year things will be different.
There’s always hope.
