Anita M. Martinez
– Age 84 a resident of Truchas, NM passed away on Friday, April 24, 2009, after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her parents: Manuel and Rosarito Martinez; brother, Santiago V. Martinez and wife Bertha; sisters: Lucia Chavez and Melinda Armijo and husband Willie; and sister-in-law, Adonaisa Martinez. She is survived by her brothers: Adrian Martinez of Truchas, Manuel and Angie Martinez of Pojoaque and Gilbert and Lucille of Truchas; and a sister, Sister M. Rosario, of the Benedictine Convent in Clyde, Missouri, as well as two nephews whom she raised: Gregory Chavez and wife Marje of Sterling, VA and Edward Chavez and wife Debbie and their son, James of Phoenix, AZ; and numerous other relatives and friends. Anita’s Celebration into Eternal Life began with public visitation on Monday, April 27, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. The Celebration continued with the Mass of the Resurrection on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Truchas. Burial followed at the Family Cemetery in Truchas. Serving as pallbearers were, Tommy, Bert, Gerard, Walter, Michael and Ronald Martinez. Honorary pallbearers were all her nephews and nieces. In Lieu of flowers, it was Anita’s wish that donations be made in her memory to the Holy Rosary Church Restoration Fund, Truchas, NM c/o Gilbert N. Martinez, P.O. Box 369, Truchas, NM 87578.
