I recently read about a fire that destroyed a home across the from the Chevron in Hernandez. I was one of many firefighters who responded to that call.
I am writing to clarify why it takes about 20 to 30 minutes to respond to a call. First we are all volunteers with other day- to- day responsibilities with our families and careers. Second it takes time to reach our departments to get the trucks and whatever other equipment we may need for the situation.
I am writing this to help the community understand why it takes us the time it takes to reach the scene.
