Editor:
The Biology Interest Group is a Northern New Mexico College student organization that was established in September 2008. Our organization’s objective is to enhance, promote, and facilitate biology students’ lives on campus. Some of the Group’s missions are to make a change in our community by participating in programs like recycling, volunteer work related to the biology field in our community at large, facilitating student peer-bonding and inviting guest speakers.
As students of the biology department of Northern, we were shocked and saddened by your Nov. 14 editorial “Northern President ‘Misstates’ Employees’ Number,
Qualifications, Status”. We believe that our experience here at Northern has been significant and wonderful. The biology professors at Northern are skilled, experienced, professional and above all inspiring and encouraging to all of us. This editorial not only attacks and underestimates the Northern biology program, but it also attacks the community, the students and future students of Northern.
It would be a pleasure to invite you to Northern in order to experience and meet the biology program faculty and students. Feel free to contact me at any time.
