(SUNfoto by Jeff Tucker) A 58-foot trailer sits at the La Loma collection center in Española last week as workers and customers deposit residential trash into the trailer from above. The North Central Solid Waste Authority plans to close the collection center upon the construction of a waste transfer and recycling station in Alcalde. Gino Romero, manager of the Authority, said the Española collection center’s location is not ideal, given its proximity to Española Middle School and a water tower. He also said the collection center is outdated and lacks features such as high fences to snare blowing debris.
