Brenda Jo Martinez, 45, Española, died Friday, March 6, 2009 following a lengthy illness.
She worked at Chamisa Inn and Angelina’s Restaurant. She was a 1981 graduate of Española Valley High School.
Ms, Martinez is survived by her sons, Dennis Martinez Jr., currently in Iraq and Derek James Garcia, Española; parents, Pres and Marie Garcia, Española; brothers and sisters, Joseph Martinez, Española, Dr. Jeanelle Martinez, Ft. Thomas, Ky. and Anna Marie Garcia-Poskey, Colorado Springs, Colo.; maternal grandmother, Genevive Brice, Cortez, Colo.; paternal grandparents, Bernie and Annie Segura, Los Alamos and several nephews, nieces and other loving relatives and friends.
Cremation is being planned. A rosary was recited yesterday (3/11) in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial Mass will be celebrated today (3/12) at 10:30 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial will follow at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Santa Cruz.
