Butterfly Run Draws Local, International Participants

(SUNfoto by George Morse) The runners take off at the start of the five-kilometer race at the 14th annual Butterfly Run Sunday at the Pojoaque Wellness Center. Santa Clara Pueblo’s Trevor Merhege (#337) won the race with a time of 18:02. Merhege runs cross country for Eastern New Mexico University. Pojoaque graduates Daniel Santistevan (#383) and Sam Roybal (#393) finished third and fourth overall. Both will be running at New Mexico Highlands University. Nicholas Kipruto, a Kenya native and a graduate of the University of New Mexico, won the 10-kilometer race.
