The Sarca fire, just east of of Pojoaque, could be seen off US 285/84 Sunday afternoon. According to Bruce Hill, public affairs officer for the Santa Fe National Forest, the fire, which began July 7, has claimed 40 acres and over the weekend and hit some heavier fuels, producing more smoke. Hill said the fire is in a remote area and that the Department's concerns regarding it are not high. He also advised smoke-sensitive persons to seek advice from their health professionals, as smoke can travel great distances.
