Editor:
I would like to preface my remarks by saying that I have never written a letter to the editor. I read the paper almost every week and have been tempted to write to you many times, usually in response to something that infuriates me, like the recent concerted barrage of letters about ‘voting your conscience.’
This time, though, I am compelled to write, not because I am angry, but because I am so proud of and moved by Bob Eckert’s Nov. 20 article about the Fine Arts for Children and Teens program and upcoming show at the Bond House. We, as a community, are so lucky to have Mr. Eckert’s careful attention to and detailed descriptions of something so positive in our midst as this art program for children.
An artist myself. I read a lot of art publications. Too many articles are quite transparently ‘in the pocket’ of one advertiser or another, so it is especially refreshing to have Mr. Eckert’s unbiased efforts focused right here on our community.
And those kids. What fantastic work they are doing, and what an influence the FACT program and Mr. Eckert’s coverage will, potentially, have on their lives. And isn’t that one of the greatest things about being young – having potential? Thank you so much for making room in this newspaper, week after week, for such excellent news. I can’t wait to see the show.
