Double District Championships for Española

(SUNfoto by George Morse) An Española Valley High School fan dressed as a Sundevil celebrates with the boys basketball team after Española defeated Bernalillo High School, 64-50, to win its second consecutive district title. The Sundevils finished the regular season 20-6 and earned the fifth seed in the Class 5A state basketball tournament. Jacob Osegueda and J.P. Sena came off the bench to contribute to the Sundevils’ victory. Española was down 14-5 after the first quarter, but came back in the second half, outscoring the Spartans, 43-22, for the victory.
