Dr. Everett Noble Gibbens,
age 62 of Charleston, IL died on Fri.., Dec. 26, 2008 at his residence. A Memorial Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Fri. Jan. 2, 2009 at the St. Philip Neri Chapel at the Newman Catholic Center, 500 Roosevelt Avenue in Charleston. There will be no scheduled public visitation. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts to the Haiti Connection can be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Dr., Charleston, IL 61920. In accordance with Dr. Gibbens’ wishes and those of his family, his body has been gifted to the Anatomical Gift Association for the training of medical personnel and the advancement of medical science through education and research.
Born in Oklahoma City, OK on Feb. 1, 1946 son of William and Helen (Paxton) Gibbens. He married Margaret “Margie” Aragon on Feb.. 7, 1970 in Santa Fe, NM. He is survived by his wife Margie; 2 children, E. Noble Gibbens II and wife Kathy of Fayetteville, NC and Natasha Amartey and her husband Ekow Franklin Amartey of Romeoville, IL; 3 grandchildren, Elena Gibbens, Jamila and Gavril Amartey; 2 brothers and families, Dr. William (Sherry) Gibbens of Wyoming and Robert Gibbens of New Mexico; mother-in-law, Marie Aragon; brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Marge Aragon and Janet and Jose Carlos Ortiz all of New Mexico. Dr. Gibbens was preceded in death by a daughter, Maria Elena Gibbens.
Emergency medicine was his passion and after obtaining his Certification from the Diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Gibbens devoted his life to emergency room care. He served as an Emergency Room Physician for many communities throughout Illinois.
