Dr. John (Juanito) Salazar,
a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on January 27, 2009. He was born in Alcalde, NM, to his parents Antonio J. and Delfina Salazar. He attended local schools and graduated from McCurdy High School at the age of 15, one month before his 16th birthday. Following his graduation, he attended Indiana Central College in Indianapolis, Indiana for two years, returning to New Mexico. He served in the US Air Force for four years, after which he returned to New Mexico and attended the University of New Mexico. He obtained his degree in 1948, Summa cum Laude. He then entered Washington University in St. Louis, MO and graduated a four year study in three years for a doctoral degree. He became chief clinical psychologist at the Veterans Hospital in Albuquerque. After four years, he went into private practice in Albuquerque up until his retirement when he was in his eighties.
He is survived by his wife, Judy, and his children Emily (Fermin) Hernandez, John II, Corky and Dawne (Justin) Moore, and four grandsons, Ehren, John III, Zachary and Lucas. A brother, Candido (Claudia) Salazar. Sisters, Lucy Salazar Tafoya, Violeta (Darrell) Anderson and Mary (Mel) Sutton.
Funeral took place at the National cemetery in Santa Fe.
