(SUNfoto by George Morse) McCurdy Charter School pitcher Derrick Valdez was on the mound in the Bobcats’ 9-8 loss to Wingate in the opening round of the Monte del Sol Invitational March 21 in Santa Fe. The Bobcats suffered three close losses during the tournament, falling to Mesa Vista 7-5 in their next game and losing to Santa Fe Prep 9-7 in their final game of the tournament. McCurdy competes in District 2A against Questa and Cimarron.
