EMILIO R. RENDON,
75, a resident of Velarde, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, March 5, 2009 following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Reyes C. Rendon; daughter, Angela R. Monia; parents, Presciliano and Domitila Rendon; sister, Eloisa Roybal; father and mother-in-law, Adeliado and Frutosa Chacon; sister-in-law, Mary Lena Martinez; brother-in-law, Sam Trujillo, Adolfo Gasca and Eloy Roybal; niece, Florence Herrera. Emilio served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked and retired for the New Mexico State Highway Department. He loved hunting, camping, loved going to dances and listening to his grandson, Mark, perform; he had the largest garden his children ever saw and was an all around outdoorsman. Emilio was always with his son, Michael and loved his grandchildren, Mark and Amanda very much. Mr. Rendon is survived by his son, Michael Rendon and wife Sharon; grandchildren, Mark Rendon and girlfriend, Rebecca Baldonado and Amanda Monia and boyfriend, Bryan Garland all of Velarde; sisters, Alvinita Gasca of La Canova, Frances Duran and husband Robert and Mabel Rendon of Española; in-laws, Alfonso Chacon and wife Valentina of Alcalde, Candie Valdez and husband Joe of Riverside and Josie Guillen and companion Joe of Alcalde and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation was Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. A second rosary was recited on Sunday, March 8, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, March 9, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde. Burial followed at the Velarde Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Mark Rendon, Amanda Monia, Joe Valdez, Robert Duran, Danny Roybal, Mary Martinez, Presciliano Rendon and Armando Rendon. Honorary pallbearers named were, Alfonso Chacon, Wilfred Gutierrez, Joe B. Martinez, Gilbert Vasquez, Joe Leyba, Richard Guillen Sr., Richard Guillen Jr., Randy Rendon, Jose S.
