ERCILIA T. VIGIL,
79, a lifelong resident of Chimayo, passed away peacefully at home with her children by her side on Monday, December 22, 2008 following a lengthy illness. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother who devoted her life to raising her children. Ercilia was preceded in death by her parents, Toribio and Andalecia Trujillo; husband, Jose Guadalupe Vigil; son, Ronnie L. Vigil; parents-in-law, Leandro and Higinia Vigil; brothers, Jerry, Enrique, Frank, Luis and Eduardo Trujillo and sister, Cordelia Martinez; brothers and sisters-in-law, Felix Vigil, Bonifacio Vigil, Margarita Vigil, Willie Vigil and Fred Leyba. Mrs.. Vigil is survived by her children, Consuelo Marquez and husband Arthur of Las Vegas, NM, Willie Vigil and wife Carol, Frank Vigil, Eugene Vigil and wife Rose all of Chimayo; sisters, Ninfa Esquibel and husband Leo and Bernie Martinez; brother, Amarante Trujillo; grandchildren, Guillermo and Angelamaria Vigil of Chimayo, Mariquita Vigil-Martinez and husband Adrian of Española, Raul and Amor Marquez of Las Vegas, NM; special niece, Gloria Vigil and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation was Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home with a wake following at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service was held on Friday, December 26, 2008 at 8:30 a.m. at El Buen Pastor Presbyterian Church in Chimayo. Burial followed at 10:00 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Guillermo Vigil, Bert Vigil, Tino Vigil, Raul Marquez, Richard Trujillo and Aaron Martinez.
