Evaristo Leroy Montoya, 44, Truchas, died Wednesday, February 25, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Evaristo and Celonires Montoya; paternal grandparents, Esquipula and Dionicia Montoya; maternal grandparents, Candelario and Senaida Martinez.
Mr. Montoya was a painter by trade having painted classic cars and houses. He also loved artwork, low-rider art, classic cars, piano, guitar and Christian music.
He is survived by his children, Leonard Leroy Montoya, Edward Evaristo Montoya and Fashionette Ashley Montoya, all of Santa Fe; one grandchild; sisters and brothers, Laura Vigil, Ojo Sarco; Amy Montoya Hewlett, Santa Fe, Frances and Betty Montoya both of Truchas; Joey Esquipula Montoya, Santa Fe and Orben C. Montoya, San Antonio, Texas and many nephews, nieces and many other relatives and friends.
A wake was held March 1 in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home. A funeral service was held March 2 also in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial followed at the San Miguel Cemetery in Truchas.
