Former County Commissioner Thankful for Experience

Published:

This is James J. Martinez, school Staff member, Pastor and former Rio Arriba County Commissioner. As my term comes to an end, I would like to thank God for the opportunity to serve as County Commissioner. It was an incredible experience.

Born and raised in Rio Arriba, I am thankful to have been a part of helping to move the County forward. Throughout my term, I remained committed to address constituent concerns and worked on the issues that matter most to the residents of Rio Arriba. Much has been accomplished under my leadership-countywide and specifically within District 1.

I was instrumental in initiating and completing multiple projects, improvements and up-grades including county road pavement, maintenance and repairs, county facilities, landscaping, parks, signs, infrastructure, the up-coming nursing home facility and the up-coming recreation athletic center planning and design. I supported and worked with our county departments, law enforcement, volunteer fire departments, libraries, non-profit organizations, acequias, water associations, children, youth and family organizations, NCSWA and multiple county programs and services.

I worked with our state and federal delegation, our neighboring counties, pueblos, communities, villages and the city of Española on behalf of Rio Arriba County. Also, I would like to thank my beautiful wife Consuelo, our daughters Kayla, Aleah and Julia, my parents Jimmy S. and Theresa Martinez, my brothers and sisters and my entire family, friends and supporters. I would also like to thank Rio Arriba County Management and Staff, as well as the Elected Officials I had the opportunity to work alongside during my term as Commissioner.

In conclusion, I would like to thank the residents of Rio Arriba County for placing your trust in me to serve as your Commissioner. I look forward to continuing to spend time with my family. In addition, I will continue to focus on my work as a school Staff member, Pastor, volunteer and concerned citizen. I will remain actively involved in community service in various capacities. I look forward to all that God has in store for me and my Family. “With all our heart we must trust the Lord and not lean on our own understanding. Always let God lead us and He will clear the road for us to follow.” Proverbs 3:5-6.

May God bless Rio Arriba County.
