Rio Arriba County Sheriff Tommy Rodella missed a day of work last week after suffering a heart attack, according to Lt. Adam Archuleta said.
“It was real shocking,” Archuleta said.
Rodella left work June 14 but was back about a day later, Archuleta said. The lieutenant verified Rodella suffered a heart attack but said he did not know any further details about the incident.
Rodella did not return calls for comment, and spokesman Jake Arnold refused to comment for this story beyond saying June 16 that Rodella was fine and attending a session of magistrate court.
Archuleta said he was in charge of the Department while Rodella was out and he wants to run for Sheriff eventually.
“I’m ready for it,” he said. “I’m ready to be number one.”
