The police blotter is published to give readers an abridged look at criminal activity in their community and neighborhood. It is simply an illustration of what local law enforcement, funded by taxpayers, must deal with daily throughout the Española Valley.

Dec. 30
1:24 a.m. An overdose was reported on Camino Cielo Grande.
1:39 a.m. A 57-year-old man suspected of taking cocaine and heroin earlier fell off the bed and told the caller to ignore it, but now he’s unconscious and not responding. The Office of the Medical Investigator was called.
2:27 a.m. Multiple women were arguing at N.M. Highway 74 and Race Track Road in Ohkay Owingeh. They then began to fight each other and a deputy had to deploy a tazer.
2:53 a.m. A Hacienda Home Center caller said the windows and front door were shattered.
4:50 a.m. An Ohkay Casino caller reported a man at the entrance is being belligerent.
6:06 a.m. A caller heard about 10 shots fired at Angel Duran Drive and North Prince Drive.
1:38 p.m. A Walmart caller said two men took off their jackets and look like they’re going to fight. A responding officer said one man just took off his jacket and there was no fight.
2:23 p.m. An Alto Loop caller reported her client lost a belt earlier in the day and she’s worried the client will accuse her of stealing it. She wants an officer to go and search her and her car to prove she didn’t steal it.
3 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man running on the road and hitting the sign at the dispensary on North Riverside Drive.
3 p.m. A Paseo Melendez caller reported the neighbor has had their truck on for an hour. The caller said they constantly turn the truck on all day and night.
3:04 p.m. A caller said there’s a fight between a homeless man and another man at the Santa Cruz Country Store and a group of people is watching.
3:17 p.m. A caller reported a group of five boys assaulted an older man in the parking lot of the Santa Cruz Country Store. The man claimed he was not injured but he’s still in the parking lot.
3:35 p.m. A Center Market caller said someone just hit a car then almost hit people as it was trying to leave. The reporting officer said a 14-year-old boy fell out of the moving vehicle.
3:48 p.m. A woman wants to speak with a deputy about a domestic violence incident that injured her and her 10-year-old child.
4:07 p.m. A Chamita caller said his house was broken into and a bunch of tools and a wheelbarrow were taken.
4:45 p.m. A San Pedro Shell caller reported a man is on drugs, acting crazy and quacking like a duck on the phone, then walking back and forth.
4:59 p.m. A glass break alarm went off at Debbie Reynolds Insurance. When the owner got there, she saw a man in her office and he ran off. The description she gave was the same as that of the man quacking like a duck at the San Pedro Shell.
6:55 p.m. An 87-year-old man on Community School Road was reported dead.
7:01 p.m. A man was interfering with a traffic stop at Walgreens.
8:40 p.m. An officer issued a man a citation for jaywalking because he was walking in the middle of the road at Carr Lane and North Riverside Drive.
9:44 p.m. An officer stopped a man who was jaywalking near Lowe’s Home Improvement.
10:32 p.m. Someone flagged down an officer to tell him there are several vehicles doing donuts in the Lowe’s Home Improvement parking lot.
11:06 p.m. An East Hill Street caller heard shots fired in the area.
11:22 p.m. A juvenile led officers on a car chase near Community School Road and Race Track Road. He was released to his guardians due to lack of space at the detention center.
The Jeep is on but the driver’s out

12:40 a.m. A man on U.S. Highway 84/285 slashed his wrists and was transported to the hospital.
12:53 a.m. A Lovin’ Oven caller said some bushes are on fire by the business.
4:58 a.m. Two men were arguing on Old Hospital Road and one broke the window on a house. The men began fighting and an officer had to deploy a tazer.
10:41 a.m. A man was kicking the windows at Starbucks, yelling and causing a scene.
10:56 a.m. A County Road 167 in Abiquiú caller reported the neighbor moved the fence and stole four acres of land. He also burned the caller’s tractor to get it out of the way.
11:21 a.m. A Monte de Luz Lane in Hernandez caller reported a 30-year-old woman is unconscious and unresponsive. They found her with a cigarette in her mouth and her Jeep was on.
11:53 a.m. A La Tierra Montessori School caller said the school was broken into sometime last night.
1:23 p.m. A Tierra Amarilla caller reported stuff on his table was gone after he left his home briefly.
1:47 p.m. A Walgreens caller said two men are harassing customers.
3:38 p.m. A man in the Ohkay Casino parking lot offered an off-duty deputy fentanyl.
5:57 p.m. A County Road 136A in Hernandez caller reported seeing flames and smoke from a house.
10:57 p.m. A man was outside a home in Ojo Sarco, pounding on the door and turning the door knob.
11:34 p.m. A Hernandez caller said the property behind hers is supposed to be unoccupied, but there are two people in it.
‘Anonymous mafia’ threats
Jan. 1
12:13 a.m. Men were fighting in the parking lot of the Ohkay Casino.
12:30 a.m. A man said he just woke up on the side of the road in Dixon. He remembers driving last night, but now he’s sitting in the passenger side of his vehicle.
1:39 a.m. A caller heard about 30 shots on Fish Pond Lane.
1:54 a.m. An officer found a woman on the side of the road in Ohkay Owingeh.
2:35 a.m. A South McCurdy Road and Martinez Lane caller reported a noise complaint because people at a home in the area are still blasting music and shooting.
2:51 a.m. A 63-year-old woman on County Road 1 in Hernandez was unconscious and not breathing.
4:34 a.m. A Las Vegas Street caller said there’s a shootout going on. The caller said people are shooting in the air.
6:11 a.m. A Private Drive 1506A in Hernandez caller reported her wife was drinking earlier and fell out of bed; now she can’t get up. Meds responded and put the woman back to bed.
1:54 p.m. A San Pedro Shell caller said he’s been getting anonymous death threats by people claiming to be from the mafia.
2:53 p.m. An Upper San Pedro Road caller was approached by two men walking down the road and holding rifles.
3:33 p.m. A woman on Calle de Pajarito is conscious and breathing but unresponsive. The caller thinks she might have alcohol poisoning.
4:18 p.m. A caller said a building across from the Medanales Post Office is on fire. The Agua Sana Volunteer Fire Department and Abiquiú Fire Volunteer Department responded, but there was no fire.
5:06 p.m. A Truchas caller reported allowing his neighbors to enter his house twice and said he’s now missing important documents.
5:51 p.m. A woman said she’s been receiving harassing text messages from a woman who has approached her in public, flipped her off and tried to throw a drink at her.
8:38 p.m. A Cook Street caller reported a woman is chasing a man and yelling.
10:38 p.m. A caller said it looks like homeless people started a fire on Calle del Rio and it appears to be getting out of control.

12:26 a.m. A West Hill Street caller heard three shots fired.
9:41 a.m. A Professional Cleaning Solutions caller said his business was burglarized.
10:01 a.m. A Taos Lane and Sandy Lane caller reported a man wrapped in a blanket, sitting under a tree is getting high.
11:26 a.m. A County Road 1 in Hernandez caller said his dad beat him up and won’t let him leave.
11:46 a.m. A Valdez Drive caller reported her father-in-law is threatening to kidnap her three children and take them to California.
1:28 p.m. A Chamita caller said their house was broken into last night.
1:39 p.m. A Del Taco caller wants a man dispersed who is walking around and yelling at himself.
5:49 p.m. A Rincon de Estella caller said a man cut her tires and broke something else on her vehicle.
6:44 p.m. A Camino Cielo Grande caller reported a 51-year-old man stabbed himself and is not breathing.
7:10 p.m. A woman was panhandling at Allsups and was asked to leave.
8:40 p.m. A 34-year-old man on U.S. Highway 64/84 overdosed. He was given one dose of Narcan.
9:13 p.m. A 43-year-old male inmate overdosed at the Rio Arriba County Detention Center. Four doses of Narcan were administered and rescue breaths were performed.
10:30 p.m. Two shoplifters were loitering in the parking lot of AutoZone.
Passed out on a bicycle
Jan. 3
6:59 a.m. A 60-year-old woman was found unconscious and cold to the touch in Ohkay Owingeh.
8:13 a.m. A State Road 581 in Española caller said her trash can was stolen.
8:33 a.m. An Alcalde woman reported a pack of dogs attacked her animals.
8:55 a.m. A Hernandez caller heard about five shots in the area.
9:32 a.m. A woman who was loitering at Allsups was trespassed but wouldn’t leave.
10:58 a.m. A North Paseo de Oñate caller reported his ex is making threats and his family thinks she will follow through with them.
12:38 p.m. A Private Drive 1056 in Alcalde caller said her 55-year-old girlfriend is unconscious and not breathing. The woman regained consciousness.
12:43 p.m. A Calle Flores caller reported a drunk man choked a woman who is now having a panic attack.
2:24 p.m. A McDonald’s caller said a woman is trying to crash into her car.
2:34 p.m. A Coyote caller reported people went onto her property and one of them had a rifle.
3:02 p.m. A Pizza 9 caller said someone is passed out on a bicycle near the dumpster.
2:15 p.m. An East Pueblo Street caller wants to file a report for a stolen package.
4:38 p.m. A knife was found on someone in the emergency room at Española Hospital.
6:51 p.m. An Alcalde caller reported his 25-year-old roommate is having a panic attack.
7:03 p.m. A Walgreens caller said a man has a big stick and is waving it everywhere.
7:57 p.m. A Walgreens caller reported a man is slumped over in an SUV and they can smell fentanyl from the vehicle.
8:12 p.m. An Ojo Caliente caller said her son has been stealing her cards and she wants to file a report.
11:15 p.m. A Calle Valdez caller wants courtesy rounds because a car and truck are racing down the street.
ODing in jail
Jan. 4
4:57 a.m. A Chamita caller said a 40-year-old is overdosing on fentanyl and isn’t breathing. Two doses of Narcan were administered the woman began breathing.
5:56 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a woman on El Llano Road and West Shadowood Lane, who is in a car with the high beams on and looks disoriented.
8:04 a.m. A County Road 101 in Chimayó caller said her 21-year-old daughter has been stressing her out and she wants her out of the house.
10:07 a.m. A Hernandez caller reported a 13-year-old boy tried to run away from home after his family gave him chores to do and they got into an argument.
10:14 a.m. A 23-year-old man overdosed at the Rio Arriba County Detention Center.
12:18 p.m. A Murphy’s Express caller said a man goes into the restroom and does drugs.
12:42 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a family that allegedly doesn’t have gas or electricity in the home and has to rely on heat from the car to stay warm.
2:23 p.m. A Rincon de Estella caller reported her ex keeps harassing her and today, he went onto her property and flashed her house with high beams.
5:38 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man who’s passed out in his car on County Road 96 and State Road 76 in Chimayó.
6:42 p.m. A Tierra Amarilla caller said her 50-year-old sister has been sleeping on and off all day and now her lips are purple and she’s not responding. The woman was conscious and breathing but not very responsive.
8:54 p.m. A Murphy’s Express caller said a vehicle has been parked near a pump for three hours and the driver looks passed out.
11:17 p.m. A person overdosed on Lower San Pedro Road and was given two doses of Narcan but died.
11:22 p.m. A Speedway caller reported a man and woman are nodding out in a car.

2:13 a.m. A caller said a building north of Big 5 was fully engulfed in flames.
8:30 a.m. A Speedway caller wants people removed because they are panhandling in the parking lot and harassing customers.
10:24 a.m. A man was possibly overdosing in a car at the Champion Express Carwash.
12:11 p.m. A Dee Dee’s Finest Beef Jerky caller reported a man is very out of it and asked them for something other than what they sell.
12:16 p.m. An O’Reilly’s caller said people are shoplifting and the manager is getting aggressive with them.
1:40 p.m. A Cook’s Mobile Home Park caller reported her mother’s passports were stolen.
1:41 p.m. A Private Drive 1313 in Chimayó caller said a woman hit her with a piece of wood and she’s bleeding from the face.
1:44 p.m. A caller reported their 16-year-old son got into a fight with an older man near the Chamisa School of Driving.
2:47 p.m. A caller at the Park and Ride said a man stole his bag and he tried to get it back, but the man won’t give it back.
7:26 p.m. A drunk man was on the side of the San Pedro Shell.
8:32 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man covered in water and shaking at the San Pedro Shell.
8:45 p.m. A 16-year-old girl was having suicidal ideations and her parents want her transported to the emergency room.
10:31 p.m. Three shots were heard, then 10, then 12 more on Simmons Lane and North McCurdy Road.
10:47 p.m. A man was trying to fight another man at the Santa Claran Casino, then tried to fight the security guard.
