Jaramillo Elected President of NM School Boards Association

Marvyn Jaramillo, a member of the Mesa Vista Board of Education, has been elected to serve as president of the New Mexico School Boards Association for 2026. Jaramillo was recently elected to a fourth term on his local board and has held numerous leadership roles with NMSBA at the state level and serves on the National School Board Association Board of Directors as well.

During the ceremonial passing of the president’s gavel, Jaramillo said, “I’m honored to step into the role of president for the New Mexico School Boards Association.” 

He also welcomed newly elected board members, who were sworn in by Rio Arriba Magistrate Judge Alexandra Naranjo, and pledged to uphold the School Board Code of Ethics.

Jaramillo was elected to serve as NMSBA President for 2025. He is beginning his fourth term on his local board and previously served as NMSBA president, president-elect, vice president and secretary-treasurer. He also served as NMSBA Region II president and member of the NMSBA Board of Directors. He received the 2020 Board Member of the Year Award, Master Board Member Certification in 2021 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2022. Jaramillo also serves on the National School Board Association Board of Directors. He is retired from the New Mexico National Guard and from the Santa Fe Sheriff’s Department.
