Jose Herminio “Mino” Lopez, 79, Los Luceros, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2009 following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Franciquita Lopez; grandson, Jesse Colombe; brother, Bon Lopez; sister, Sophie Montoya and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Lopez is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rafaelita “Lela” Lopez, Los Luceros; children, Richard Lopez of Los Luceros, Darlene Colombe, Rio Rancho and Martha Gomez, Los Luceros; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren brothers and sisters, Frutoso and Pat Lopez, Sylvia Cordova, Lydia Lopez and many other relatives and friends.
A rosary was recited Feb. 14 in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home. A second rosary was recited Feb. 15 at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in San Juan. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Feb. 16, also at the St. John The Baptist Catholic Church. Burial followed at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
