JOSEPHINE “PINA” SANCHEZ,
76, a resident of Velarde, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2009 following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victoriana and Plutarco Sanchez; and brother, Steve Sanchez. Josephine was a gift from God and a true angel who loved her family and everyone equally. She loved her music and enjoyed dancing, traveling and was not afraid to get on exciting rides at Disneyland. While hindered with being handicapped, she never let it get in the way of living her life to the fullest. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. Pina is survived by her sisters and brothers, Esther Barrett of Velarde, Marge Gentry and husband Hank of San Bruno, CA, Ernie Sanchez and wife Sheila of Salem, OR and Gene Sanchez and wife Pat of Lakeport, CA; niece, Terry Harper, great-nieces, Andrea and Rachel Harper; great-nephew, David Harper all of Velarde and numerous nieces, nephews; great-nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Cremation is being planned. Public visitation was Friday, May 1, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, a wake service followed at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service took place on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. also at DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, burial followed at the Apodaca Cemetery in Dixon.
