Kathy Montez, 48, died Thursday, April 16, 2009 in Santa Maria, Calif.
She moved to Española in 1974 and graduated Española Valley High School in 1978. She returned to California for a visit and stayed there for 28 years.
She married and had two daughters, Alma Rose and Annie. She returned to Española a year ago to be with her parents. In December she became ill and had been fighting to keep going but lost the battle.
She is survived by her parents Frank and Rose Montez; brothers Marty and Dan and sister, Leticia and many other relatives and friends.
