LAURIE ANN SANCHEZ,
35, a resident of Española, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 following a short illness. She was preceded in death by her niece, Desiree Villalobos; cousin, Tanya Sanchez and uncle, Anthony Griego. Laurie was a very kind hearted and outgoing person who opened her door to friends, family and even strangers. She was giving and cared for those who were in need. Her children and grandchildren were the love of her life. Laurie enjoyed spending time with her family, fishing, the outdoors and cooking for her grandpa when she had time. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Laurie is survived by her parents, Delbert and Lina Sanchez of Española; children, Ashley Sanchez and companion Isaiah Valdez, Ryan Sanchez and Clyde Vigil all of Española; grandchildren, D’Sean Valdez of Española; sisters, Sandra Gonzales and companion Kenny Vigil, Shannon Sanchez and companion Audelio Lopez all of Española and Shanae Sanchez of Leadville, CO; father of her children, Mark Montoya of Española; maternal grandparents, Amarante Gonzales and wife Simmie; paternal grandparents, Remigio Sanchez and wife Isabel; nephews, Brandon and Albert Villalobos and Kenneth Vigil and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends. Public visitation was Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service was held on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Worship Center in El Llano. Burial followed at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Roy Charles and Kevin Gonzales, Benji Vigil, Isaiah Valdez, Dominic Tafoya and Nathan Tafoya. Honorary pallbearers named are, Ryan Sanchez, Clyde Vigil, D’Sean Valdez and Brandon Sanchez.
